The problem is that we demand change from bigger organizations, the current administration, corporations, and all things big and out there, but at a micro-personal level, we too fail to respect, validate, and support one another.
At an individual level, we too are running our very own mini communist systems that, consciously or unconsciously, aims to take advantage of others, tries to censor them, cuts away at their freedoms, and steals from them: their ideas, their work, their time, and needless to say, their money.
This behavior, repeated over time, by every little dictator, modern time-slave driver, autocrat, or gatekeeper roaming free is what’s now reflected as a whole in our local and global societies. Some have contributed at a larger scale, but overall, we have all contributed in the end.
In this culture that operates on a bullet train moving with speed onto the next station, Easter and Passover are already soon gone, and with it, the teachings and wisdom of these Judeo-Christian celebrations.
We operate on a never ending command to consume-produce- and repeat again forgetting the why of our existence. We have become so numbed that we easily forget what really matters in the eternal now.
Therefore, we are not much different than Ai operating without the distinct human touch, or from the political or religious extremists with tunnel vision that excludes all that’s different from ours.
We forget what the elevated spirituals masters before us have taught us: we are all one in all our glorious differences.
The antidote is to remember our humanity.
Humans, ah my most favorite species!
We humans thrive when tapping into our creative and spiritual souls. When we are functioning on autopilot, we get disconnected, devoid of feelings, and our dark side comes out. Turning into automaton, is a death sentence to our souls, especially for creatives, dreamers, artist.
The antidote is to feel and experience with all of our human senses.
Engaging into an artistic experience, connecting with our spirituality, doing something for fun, connecting with nature, seems like an obvious prescription to wellbeing, but one we often forget when we have our eyes set on a material goal or outcome, a reputation to maintain, or appearances we seek to obtain or maintain.
The antidote is to be human
Romanticizing our lives is necessary. Our creative spirits thrive when we are surrounded in beauty and having fun. When we are elevating others, not taking away from them. Loving what we do by making more of the things we love. Making things from our hearts, not from expectations, rules, or demand from others.
Leaning into inspiration and noticing the great indicators is important creative, spiritual, and human work. And in doing so, we are fighting the good fight against the maladies of the world. It is an act of rebellion against what tries to shut down our humanity.
It is why I created The Coffee & Stories Society gatherings where we feel encouraged to simply be our beautifully uncensored, fully expressed, richly deep selves. Each human being contains multitudes, and we invite them all in all its glory.
Next meeting is a funky one, different time!
Bring your pizza slice(s), your drink of choice, and your humanness.
If you cannot make it at 5:30pm, explore the writing prompts below!
Journaling Prompts
Pick up a notepad, journal, or loose piece of paper and free write the first that comes to mind. It should take you only a few minutes:
What’s my favorite piece of art?
What’s my favorite movie?
What’s my favorite song?
What’s my favorite part of the creative work I am working on?
Notice your reaction to it. What is it about that favorite book or movie? Why do you love it? Those are your indicators!

Warm of Humanity by Ryan Geoffrey Hayward 3d
Holy ghost created the coast
the beauty of sun-swept lost,
Sun pops up like warm toast
burns like hands gripping rope.
There's been a demon raging
far too long gnawing at me,
I've held onto my sinful pride
lost the view of graceful trees.
Its not inside that lies a mystery,
Its the outside that determines,
if our eyes closed can finally open
and see the warmth of humanity.
If we can move past tunnel vision,
we can improve and open wide,
Not make irrational decisions
keep the door open, not sliding.
